Delve into key scriptures that illuminate your new identity as a child of God and the essence of repentance. It's a compelling introduction to understanding and living out your faith.
Welcome to your new journey in faith! You've made an incredible decision to follow Jesus, and we're here to explore what this means in your life.
Embracing Jesus as Your Savior
Being a Christian is about believing in Jesus and accepting Him as your Lord and Savior. It's recognizing that we all have our faults and failings, things we've done or thought that are wrong - these are sins. But here's the amazing part: Jesus, God's Son, came to Earth to take the punishment for our sins by dying on the cross.
Reflect on John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
Accepting Jesus is a life-changing decision. As John 1:12-13 explains, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
Your New Identity: A Child of God
Being a Christian isn't about being perfect or just attending church. It's a personal relationship with Jesus, asking Him to be your Lord and Savior and seeking forgiveness for your sins.
Remember, John 17:3 tells us, “This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
Exploring Faith Together
Sharing Your Story: Why did you choose to follow Jesus? Let's hear your unique journey.
Sin and Redemption: We've all sinned, yet God's love reaches us even in our flawed state. Romans 3:23 says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” And Romans 5:8 adds, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
The Power of Repentance: Repentance is more than saying sorry; it's a commitment to turn away from sin. Acts 2:38 guides us: "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Declaring Your Faith: Speaking about your faith is a bold and important step. Romans 10:9-10 emphasizes, “If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
Understanding 'Born Again': This term signifies a spiritual rebirth. John 3:3-7 explains it vividly through Jesus' words: “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again... You must be born again.”
Reflect on Your Journey: Consider these scriptures and how they resonate with your personal experience. They form the foundation of your faith and guide your path forward.
